TWENTY-NINTH ANNUAL MEETING. NOTICE is hereby given that the TWENTY-NINTH ANNUAL MEETING of the Members of this Society will be held in the Chamber of Commerce, Sydney Exchange, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon of THURSDAY, the 25th day of APRIL, 1878, for the purpose of—1. Receiving the Report of the Directors on the business of the Society for the year ended Slat December, 1877. 2. Electing two Directors in lieu of the Hon, John Smith, C.M.G., M.L.C., and Robert J. King, Esq., who retire in terms of by-law V., and one of whom only is eligible for re-election. 3. Electing an Auditor in lieu of James D. Milne, Esq., who retires, and (in terms of by-law X) is ineligible for re-election. 4. Considering the following resolutions, which Mr. Frederick Lee has notified his intention of moving : Ist. That in the opinion of this meeting, whenever any ballot shall take place for the election of a director or directors, auditor or auditors, each candidate for either of the said offices may be present at the ballot, and also at the scrutiny of the votes, and that such candidate, or candidates, may, at his or their discretion, and at his or their sole cost and expense, appoint a scrutineer to act on his or their behalf, and to be present during the ballot, and during the scrutiny of the votes, and that such scrutineer or scrutineers, when present at the close of the scrutiny, shall sign the report of the result of the ballot, in conjunction with the signatures of the scrutineers elected at the meeting ; but prior to the admission of such scrutineer to the ballot-room, the said scrutineer appointed by the candidate shall lodge with the Secretary, at the head office in Sydney, an authority (in writing) signed by the said candidate in the following form : I, A. 8., appoint C. D. as my scrutineer, to be present at the ballot and scrutiny of votes. (Signed) A. B. That such list shall contain the name and address only of the members, and shall not disclose the amount insured, the number of votes conferred by the policy, nor any assignment thereof. 4th.
