ENGLAND AND RUSSIA.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sin, —What does “Pax” moan by bis magniloquent rigmarole ? 1. Does be expect to have his letter flashed to Lord Beaconsfield, in order to give that statesman an opportunity “ to reconsider the position ?” or 2. Does he expect that his childish effusion will induce New Zealand to send by the same means “ a grand remonstrance ?” or 3. Is it merely to please “ the lust of the eye,” by seeing himself in print-—a satisfaction greedily enjoyed by small minds ? I have it ! It is the great proconsul himself, and this is the first step towards making us great, glorious, and free ; the shackles we have sweated under for years are to be stricken off. Long live George, by the grace of God, first President of the New Zealand Republic. —I am, &0., Bkllum.
