Wanaka reports sighting a vessel, about 80 tons, bottom up, 40 miles S.S.W.. off Akaroa. Her bottom was coal tarred, and a quantity of wreckage was about her. BLUFF, Monday. Arrived : 8.4 a.m., Arawata, from Melbourne. She left Melbourne at 7 p.m. on the 27th March, and brings thirty saloon and twenty-five steerage passengers, and 405 tons of cargo for all ports. PassengerSaloon: For the Bluff—Sir John Coode. For Wellington—Misses Young, Brown, and Lawlow, Mesdames Brown and Field; eight in the steerage, and 110 tons of caigo. She sails at 4 p.m. for Dunedin. The Merchant Shipping and Underwriters’ Association have received the following shipping intelligence : LONDON, 12th March. ■'’Arrived; Lady Jocelyn, [from Melbourne; City of Agra, Geelong, and Europe, from Lacipede Islands. The Argonaut, which put back to repair, damages received in collision with the Bombay, has sailed again for Wellington. 10th March. Arrived : Adiemore, from Melbourne; Aristides, from Adelaide ; Bereau, from Launceston. HONG KONG, 23rd February. Arrived: Marie, from Newcastle: Mosquito, from Albany; Silas Fish, ftom Newcastle; Tokatca, from Newcastle ; Star of India and Normanby, ftom Sydney, The s.s. Rangatira sailed for Napier and Poverty Bay at 8 o’clock last evening, taking with her a fall general cargo. An attempt was made to haul the Lanarkshire np to the wharf yesterday, but owing to the heavy N. W. wind blowing, the lines parted the efforts to get her alongside had to be abandoned. She will come to the wharf with the first favorable change of weather. The Tararua sailed for Melbourne, via the West Coast, at 5.30 p.m. yesterday. The s.H. Hawca arrived here from Auckland, via the East Coast, at 7.30 a.rn. yesterday. She left Auckland at 8.30 p.m. on the ZBth, and arrived at Tauranga at 8 a.m. on the 2Dth;'left five hours afterwards, and arrived at Poverty Bay atO a.m. next day ; sailed at 6 p.m.. and reached Napier after a 12 hours’run; left at 10.30 a.m. on the 31st, and arrived hero as above stated. Had line weather down. The Hawea left the wharf at 5 p.m. for the South, but owing to an accident which happened to the chief officer (particulars of which will be found elsewhere) when the steamer reached the pilot station, she had to come back to the wharf to land him. She eventually got away at 8.30 p.m. The Wanaka, from the South, will arrive here this morning. , , The Wellington for Plcton and Nelson, and the Jane Douglas for Foxton and Rangitikei, sailed yesterday afternoon. .
