COMMERCIAL .
The following are the duties collected at the Customs yesterday;—
The ameunt of Customs duties collected at this port for the week ending March 28 was as under;—
The import trade continues active, but we report no improvement in prices, owing to the large importations recently received and now landing from the London ships, which render stocks on hand far beyond our requirements. In Colonial produce prices are depressed. Butter in kegs is in little demand, and first quality cure is difficult to place at 7M to 8d per lb; cheese, dull at 6Jd to 7d per lb, for prime Canterbury ; bacon and hams, full stocks at nominal rates : cloth-packed Canterbury cure is selling at 7£d to 8d for trade lots. Southern flour is lower, and sales of best brands have been made at £l2 10s per ton for sacks, nor does there seem to be any prospect of higher rates. Oats are unchanged from last week’s rates of 4s to 4s 3d, for prime milling sorts. The new crop has not yet come forward in sufficient quantities to affect this market, but we do not think prices can be sustained. Potatoes in fair supply at 70s to 75s per ton; maize difficult to quit at 4s ; sales at 3s lOd. BY TELEGRAPH. AUCKLAND SHARE MARKET. (from our own correspondent.) AUCKLAND, Friday.
