Shipping Notices THE undersigned has received instructions from the Shag Point Coal Company, to offer for SALE their steamer SHAG. This steamer is only three years old, and the engine, boiler, steam winch, and everything about her in first-class order. She is 31 tons net register, and carries 50 tons general cargo under hatches. She only draws sft. when light, and sft. 9in. when loaded. Her average speed is 7to 7J knots. The Shag is admirably adapted for bar, harbor, or river traffic, where a light draft of water with good power is requisite. The working parts have been constructed with so much simplicity that the slightest touch of the foot on the treadle will set it going at a rapid rate. Several tests were made at the establishment of Messrs. Long and Co. yesterday, and in every instance the machines fully upheld the important advantages claimed for them. The most astonishing feat of sewing six layers of heavy tweed with four of tin together was accomplished. The machines are well worthy of inspection.”— Aye, April 13, 1877.
