Arrived :—Taiaroa and Wanaka, from South; H M.S. Nyraphe, from Fiji. . w Sailed: Kate McGregor, for Lyttelton, via Wangapona. The time-ball may be used to-day for rating chronometers. A chronometer true on Greenwich time would show 12h. 30rain. when the ball drops. Any difference is error, plus or minus, of the chronometer. The s.s. Ringnrooma sailed for Melbourne via the South at 1 o’clock yesterday afternoon. The schooner Waitapu arrived hero yesterday, timber laden, from Waitapu. The s.a. Taupo arrived here yesterday at 10.30 a.m. from Auckland via the East Coast. She left Auckland at 8.30 p.m. on the 14th, arriving ;it Tauranga at 2.30 p.m. on the 15th, and left at 4 p.m. same day for Gisborne, where she arrived at 1.30 p-m. on the 16th; sailed for Napier at 5.30 p.m., and arrived at 5.30 a.m. on the 17th ; left again at 10.30 a m., arriving here as above stated. Experienced fine weather to Castlejpoiut. thence strong head winds and sea till arrival. The Taupo sailed at 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon for the South. The schooner Shepherdess, after undergoing a thorough overhaul on Meech’s slip, came off yesterday and sailed up to the breastwork. The s.s. "Wellington sailed for Picton and Nelson at 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon. The schooner Rose of Eden left for Pelorus Sound yesterday. The s.s. Rangatira sailed for Napier and PovertyBay at 5 o clock p.m. yesterday, with a large cargo. The s.a. Kiwi arrived here from Napier and East Coast ports at 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon, with 100 casks tallow, 50 bales wool, a quantity of skins and bides, and several packages of sundries. She left Napier on Thurs : ay afternoon last, and arrived at Paurere early next morning, took in a quantity of .tallow and left at 2 p.m. same day ; called at Gastlepoint and remained there till 5 pm. on Sunday, th nee proceeded to Palliser Bay, but owing to the heavy weather was unable to communicate with the shore, and had to come on to this port, arriving as above stated. The Kiwi will sail for Castlepoint and -Napier to day. The new schooner Ponekc was towed round from -Evan’s Bjy yesterday afternoon by the Moa, and brought up to the wharf, where she will be rigged and ■fitted up. ' ARRIVAL OF THE LORD OF THE ISLES. A light breeze from the southward which came up yesterday morning brought up the ship which was blown off by the N.W. gale on Sunday in sight of the Heads. During the afternoon the wind changed to ■the northward, light, and at 5 p.m. the vessel anchored outside the Heads. She proves to bo the .Lord of the Isles, 657 tons, Captain Piper, consigned to the N. Z. S. Company. She is reported as having left London on December 15th, and is therefore 97 days out to day. The steamer Moa was to have left bere early this morning to tow the ship into port.
