City of Sydney kave been'isolated, and. there ia every probability that the steamer will be quarantined for some time. which carries an annanent of ten guns, arrived in Brisbane harbor yesterday. ■- Later. - The case of supposed small-pox discovered in the steamer City of Sydney is not true variola, but the steamer has not yet bean released from quarantine. . Cairns, in the Colony of Queensland, has been visited by a great cyclone. Eight, buildings were totally destroyed, and many others very much injured. - The place is in ruins, but no lives have been lost. Melbourne, Tuesday. , Captain Glover arrived last night per China- ; horazo. t There is a probability of an early telegraphic conference in Melbourne. ~ The difference between the Council and the ; Assembly is in ai fair way of settlement. [A warrant for a month’s expenditure, under the. 45th -section of the Constitution Act, was duly perfected yesterday by ; the .signature of the Audit Commissioner and the Governor. It will not be acted on until it is seen whether a compromise cannot be effected between the two Houses by Tuesday next. On Thursday Mr. Jenner will move in the Council, that a conference be sought with the Assembly. The motion is likely to be carried; but the Council will, it is said, insist on the withdrawal of the item for'payment of members from the Appropriation Bill as a preliminary to any conference. ..
