THE SHIP HURUNUI TEMPERANCE ENTERTAINMENT.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sir, —With your kind permission I desire to say a few words in reference to the late temperance gathering at the Athemeum Hall. We do not care to leave Wellington without giving the general public an explanation with regard" to; the proceeds derived from the late tea meeting and concert given by us, Wa may state that all-accounts had been duly liquidated in connection with the affair ; but we are sorry to say that there is not an overplus of funds in hand ; in fact, there has been a trifling loss ; but still we are satisfied with the result, as we hope it will be the means of doing a little good. . As we are about to leave for Home this week, we take this opportunity of heartily thanking the local clergy and the merchant service; and also the lady and gentlemen amateurs who kindly gave their services with a view to make the entertainment a success ; and wo also desire to thank the general public for their patronage, wishing them God-speed. —We aie, &c., David' Morgan. John Lightfoot. Ship Hurunni, Wellington, February 28.
