RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Friday, February 15. (Bef ire J. C. Crawford, Esq., R.M.) DRUNKENNESS. James Williams, charged with having been drunk and incapable, was let off with a caution. William Mack, for a similar offence, was fined 55.; and John Johnstone, also charged with being drunk, was fined 10s., with the alternative of 18 hours’ imprisonment. BREACH OF MUNICIPAL BY-LAWS. A charge against James Fenton, of leaving his horse and cart unattended in a public thoroughfare, was dismissed, as defendant called witnesses to prove that he was looking after the horse. The hearing of a similar case against Richard Bullman was adjourned until Tuesday. BREACH OP TUB BUILDINO REGULATIONS. Thomas Ritaon was summoned for neglecting to remove a building iu the occupation of William Henry Bragge, brazier, Willis-atreet, which abutted on the footway. Mr. Travers appeared for the Corporation, and Mr. Bell for the defendant. Messrs. Nicholas Marchant, MoGuire, Briscoe, and O’Neill, surveyors, were, severally called, and gave evidence to the effect that the building was an encroachment. This case was also adjourned. CIVIL cases. Judgments weregiven for plaintiffs, with costs, in the following oases: —G. Dixon v. G. Wain, £lO ss. 9d.; Pascoe and Co. v. Donecker, £2O Bs. 5d.; W. Freeman v. Snow, £8 8s; J. E. Evans r. Gillard, £8 fis.; Brogden and Sons v. G. Hannox, £53 19a. 9d. * Judgments were given for the defendants in the cases of O. J. Pownall v. A. F. Halcome, a claim for £25; and Pascoe and Co", v. T. Hooker, a claim for £24 4s. fid; Mr. G. Allan appeared for plaintiffs.
