TIPS FOR THE REGATTA AT WANGANUI.

By PuLTirus. At this, the-champion’aquatic contest of the Tear there seems likely to be considerable iompetition for the several events. In the outrigger race Wellington, Christchurch, and Lyttelton will be represented, and I fancy the crew from the last-named place for choice, as I understand that with the excaption of one man it is the same crew that pulled off the whaleboat race at the recent regatta at Lyttelton. The Wellington Dolly Varden crew, however, X expect to see not far behind. . .. ~T . For the pair-oared outrigger race the Web, lin»ton Rowing Club have entered three boats, but I hear that there will not be a con-est, as no crews will meet them. , . , Xu the scullers’ race the above-named club have also three boats entered. Ihe Port Nicholson Club has also one, and so has the Wanoanui Club. Hearn, of the Dolly harden, Is such a formidable opponent that I have little doubt of his securing a victory for Wellington in this race ; and for the second place X fancy the Wanganui representative. - ■ The whaleboat race promises to be closely contested, the several crews bemg pretty nearly .n a par.
