The following ace the amounts of Customs’duties collected at the port of Wellington during the week ending the Gth of February

WVreport no change in the import 'market during the past week. Trade has shown indications of improvement, and so soon as the current holidays are over we may look f >rward to an active business both in town and' country. In the meantime the races seem to occupy the first place. Adelaide flour is rather firmer, but in the face of low prices of southern mills we can hardly anticipate higher rates than the present ones. COLONIAL PRODUCE. • Butter of first-rate, quality is firm at Od, but the greater portion of the salt butter offered for sale is indifferently cured, and is worth for immediate consumption only not more than Od to 7d, and is rejected by buyers for shipping orders. It is in fair demand just now; but the recent rainfall will prevent any short supply, and keep down prices. Cheese is in moderate demand at 8d to 9d for prime. Canterbury hams and bacon in.full sujiply at 0d to lOd per lb. Flour dull, at last week’s rates of £l4 to £ls per ton for best brands of Oamaru; quality guaranteed. Generally prices show a .drooping tendency, and as stocks are heavy we may look for exceptionally low rates this season. Oats—fair stocks, and firm at 4s 3d per bushel for old. The farmers down South are endeavoring to keep up prices for new crop, but large quantities having been grown this season in this province we shall be comparatively independent in many of the country districts for supplies, nor do wo think high rates can be sustained in the other provinces, Maize still at 4s Od to ss.
