Northern Forth.—Taiaroa, Ist February. BY TELEGRAPH. LYTTELTON, Sunday. Arrived : Cleopatra, from Brisbane; Tui, from Gore Bay The barque Glencoe, from Bateman’s Bay, N.S.W., to Gore Bay, with timber for the Hurunui Bridge, arrived here this morning. She has been seventeen days at Gore Bay, and could not get clear of her cargo there, so came here to discharge it. Sailed ; Rotorua, for Port Chalmers, at I p,m. PORT CHALMERS, Sunday. Arrived ; Rotorua, from Lyttelton. AUCKLAND, Saturday. The ship Lorraine has arrived after a passage of 85 days from the Downs. There are 30 passengers, all well. She brings three thoroughbred brood mares, all in foal, from Newmarket, to the order of Mr. Fergusson, of Waikato. The names of the mares are Dundee, Kitty, and Locket. The s.s. Rangatira, Captain Evans, sailed from Poverty Bay on Friday evening, arriving in Napier early next morning: sailed from that port at noon on Saturday ; experienced moderate head wind down, arriving In port at 12 o’clock on Sunday. The s.s. \lhambra, from Melbourne via the South, with cargo and passengers, arrri ed in port at 3.30 p.m on Saturday. She left Sandridge railway pier at 4.15 p.m. on the 16th inst.; cleared the Heads at 8 35 p.m., and passed Cape Schauck at 10.35 p.m.; was off Swan Island at 8 p.m. on the iTfch; experienced fine weather and variable winds throughout the passage, and passed the Solanders at G p.m. on the 21st. Arrived at the Bluff at 445 a.m. on the 22nd; discharged cargo, and left again at 5 p.m,, and arrived at Port Chalmers at 5.45 a.m. on the 23rd inst. Sailed at 2 p.m. on the 24th ; arrived «t Lyttelton on the 25th >it 9 a.m.: left same day at 9 p.m., and arrived here as above stated. We thank Mr. Jones, purser, for files and report. The Alhambra will sail for Melbourne via the West Coast at 1 o'clock this afternoon. The Wellington sailed for Picton and Nelson at 2.30 p.m. on Saturday, and the Manawatu left for Wanganui at 8 p.m. The ship Mataura was unable to leave on Saturday morning for London, as expee'ed, owing to the wind being southerly. However, at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon she got under way with a light westerly wind, and cleared the heads at 6 d m. As a result of the reduction of the pilot service at this port we might mention the fact that the Rialto bad to come into harbor on Tuesday last without a pilot. Pilot Holmes at the time was bringing in the Araby Maid, and was unable to board the Rialto till that vessel had come round Halswell. Messrs. W. and G Turnbull, the agents for the vessel, have consequently lodged a protest with the Collector of Customs against paying the full amount of pilot dues, which, in the Rialto's case, come up to something like £SO. The following sailing vessels took their departure from this port on Saturday and yesterday :—Clematis and Hannah Broomfield for Kaipara, Canterbury and Rose of Eden for Pelorus Sound, Emerald for Picton, and Reliance for East Coast. The s.s. Murray, from Wanganui, arrived in port on Saturday at 5.30 p.m., with a cargo of sheep, having left there at 2.30 p.m. the previous day She sailed for Nelson and West Coast Ports at 11 o'clock on Saturday night. The p.s. Wallace arrived in port from Nelson yesterday at 9 a.m. after a thirteen hours' passage. She will sail for Nelson and West Coast ports on Tuesday. The Hinemoa sailed for the Manukau on Saturday night. The s.s. Rangat ; ra arrived in port at noon yesterday from Napfcr. The s.s. Kiwi arrived in port from Napier and the East Coast at 10.30 last night. She left Napier »t 11 a m. on Saturday last, called at Pourero, Gape Turnagain, and * 'astlepofnfc, collecting wool and passengers and landing stores. The s.s. Stormbird, Captain Doile. left Wanganui at 6 o'clock on Sunday morning, and arrived alongside the wharf at 6 p.m., having met with light southerly winds and fine weather on the passage down. Passed the p.s. Manawatu at 7 o’clock on Sunday morning off tbeKangitikei Bight, the schooner Spray off Kapiti, and the ship Mataura off the Heads.
