(PER PRESS AGENCY.) Auckland, Sunday. Bishop Cowie has accepted the appointment of Honorary Chaplain to the Auckland Artillery Volunteers. Chaplain Rodder has been appointed manager of the new Auckland Steamship Company. The railway employes held a picnic to-day, and thirty-four carriages left with a band for Pokeno. Committee of the Otago Cricket Association, denying the charge that obstacles had been raised by the Otago cricketers to the annual match with Canterbury, and asserting that the Otago Association had been most anxious to arrange the match at such date as should be most convenient to the Canterbury players. Dunedin, Sunday. Bishop Neville is said to be the purchaser of the Milton Pottery. During the week upwards of 100 applicants for admission to the Normal School were refused, the school being already overstocked.
