Larnaoh, Oarruthers, Blair, and Conyers took part in the game, which was most amusing, a number of the leading men of Invercargill being also in it. After the cricket match yesterday Mr. Neilsbu, captain of the Canterbury team, said there would be no more iaterprovineial matches with Otago. He said this was due mainly to the obstacles repeatedly thrown in the way by Otago men during the past few years. It also appeared that offence had been taken at a remark made by the chairman of the recent banquet to the cricketers in Dnnedin, to the effect that tlie chairman hoped the Australians would thrash the Canterbury team for their presumption in only playing with fifteeu men. The decision not to play any more matches with Otago is much regretted here. Tiharu, Friday. At a meeting held at Temuka, resolutions were passed iu favor of having a harbor at Milford' Sound, and against the Timatu Harbor Board spending £IOO,OOO on harbor works there. The Government is also requested to appoint an engineer to report on the respective suitability of the two places for harbor' works.
