There was a good attendance and spirited competition. ‘ ‘ ARRIVAL OF'.H.M.S."NYMPHI3. • Yesterday afternoon the Nympluj, from Sydney, arrived off the Heads, and at 6.45'p,m. she anchored in the usual maa-bl-wac ground.' She has made the trip down under sail in. 13 days. She sailed from Sydney on the Sthinst.- at 1.30 p.m., and experienced strong S.E. winds for the first,three days ; thence had to the 15th light airs And calms, when a strong breeze from the* westward* was ihet with’. Tho land was made yesterday'morning, and the wind-carried-her down to tho Heads, when it changed to the southward, with which she came into port under steam as abovementioned. Since the Nympho last left here she lias been to all tho Australian colonies, with the exception of Tasmania and Queensland. She sailed from Noumea to Sydney, and reached there on the 9ch November ; thence she sailed for this port, arriving as previously mentioned. Since the Nymphe’s last visit here her then commander, Captain Suttie/was married in Sydney, whence he sailed for England. Captain Townsend cajno out from Home,to relieve him. : The' .length of the Nymphe's stay here is at .present not known, but probably it will extend over three weeks, and.' then she will go to NeUon and Canterbury, returning to this port, where she will await the arrival of the * Wolverene, which is expected down herein March next.
