The county town of Leicester was the scene of an interesting celebration on Monday, Nov. 5, the anniversary of lukermau. The Leicestershire Regiment, the 17th Foot, is now in India, but the Leicestershire veterans, to whom the family of Burnaby contributes its share, are in England, and gathered together with alacrity and enthusiasm in the Leicester Corn Exchange. No fewer than 365 army and navy medallists, all of them Leicestershire men, were forthcoming. The senior sailor present was Robert Crofts, who is eighty years of age. The senior soldier was William Green, thirteen years older—ninety-three. He entered the army at nineteen, and was present at the battle of Corunna, and at Sir John Moore’s funeral.
