COMMERCIAL.
The following are the duties collected at the Customs yesterday;—
Mr. George Thomas sold by auction at Taua Flat, Fovirua-road, yesterday, the cattle, sheep, etc., belonging to the estate of C. Duncan, by order of the trustee. There was a good attendance of both town and country buyers, and the biddings were very spirited, resulting in the following cash prices:—Dairy cows, £S to £lO 10s each: TOO sheep, consisting of ewes, wethers, and lambs, at 9s each; pigs, 15s to 40s each; horse, trap, and harness, poultry, etc., at fair prices. Mr. Alexander Saunders reports Sales: Bank of New Zealand, £23 10s: South British Insurance, 78s; Moanataiari, 80s; Alburnia, 60s; Kurunui, 15s. Buyers: National Bank, 7Xs ; Colonial, 51s; Standard Insurance, 21s; Union,, 12s 6d ; Caledonian, 60s; Beach, 22s 6d; Thames, 355. Sellers: Colonial, 52s Cel. (per press agency.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. At Wilkin's wool sale to-day 800 bales were sold as follows First quality, cross-breds, 9d to 104 d; second, 8d to 9d; first quality, merino, 9d to lO’id; second, Sd to 9d.
