At the meeting of the Lyttelton Harbor Board yesterday, Mr. Cunningham proposed a resolution appointing a committee to report on the defences of the Lyttelton harbor, aod said the Government neglected its duty iu not having Sir William Jervois to report on the defences of the colony. Mr. Turner argued that the defence of the harbor did not come u ithin the scope of the Board. It was ultimately resolved to adjourn the matter for the chairman to obtain a legal opinion ou it. The weather is now very fine for harvesting. Reports from the country districts are very encouraging. Dunedin, Saturday. Goldsbrough and Co. telegraph from Melbourne, under yesterday’s date, that they have sold during the week 1000 bales of wool at the following prices : —Greasy, up to Is. 31d.; washed, Is. 7ld. Blenheim. Saturday. The following are the acceptances for the Marlborough Cup : —Lara, Treason, Strongbow, Septimus, Doncaster, Orange Lightning, Ratamama.
