Telegraphic tenders, similarly addressed and marked, will.be received if presented at any telegraph office by Noon of the same date, provided that written tenders in due form are lodged at a district or resident engineer’s office by the same hour, and accompanied by a cheque on some bank in the town where the tender is lodged ; such cheque to be specially marked by a banker as good for 21 days, and to be in favor of the Receiver-General’s deposit account only, and not to bearer or order. Pair of stationary engines, each 20 horsepower ; 20in. cylinder 3ft. stroke ; with fly-wheel lift. 9jfin. in diameter; also, 3 egg-end boilers, cuds and fire surface of best Lowmoor iron. The whole manufactured by Slaughter, Gruning, and Co., of Bristol. Cost, £2600. Especially adapted for woollen or other mill. 2. Self-acting planing machine, E size, JimCrow action; by Sir Joseph Whitworth; will take in 6ft. ; maximum speed of countershaft 212 revolutions per minute, minimum, 170. Cost,j744. 3. Slotting machine, E size; to admit Bft. diameter'; top-driving apparatus, &c. ; cast-iron side frames, lift. lOin. high, maximum speed countershaft 189, minimum 158; by Sir Joseph Whitworth, Cost, £667. 4. Hand-brake lathe, base plate, 24ft.; bed, 12ft.; 10ft. between centres; top-driv-ing apparatus, &c. ; maximum speed countershaft 58, minimum 38 ; an exceedingly powerful tool; by Sir Joseph Whitworth. Cost, £1550. 5. Boring bar, self-actimr, 15ft. long, with boring heads and cutter, adapted for boring marine or other cylinders ; by Sir Joseph Whitworth. Cost, £3OB. 6. Rack saw-bench with pulleys, rollers, &c., complete; also, 5 circular saws, from 2 to 4ft. diameter; by S. Worssam & Co. Cost, £283. 7. Two cupolas, with valves and tuyeres complete, of 6 and 12 tons capacity respectively; by Great Western Company of England. Cost, £2OO. 8. Blast fan, silent, 6 blades, in cast-iron case, 3Jft. diameter; by George Lloyd. Cost, £36. 9. Six foundry ladles, from 8 to 44in., with lifting gear. Cost, £42. 10. Three bossing forges, wrought-iron, each 3 blast, with pipes aud throttle valve* complete. Cost, £63. CONDITIONS OE TENDERING AND SALE. 1. Tenders may be for any separate lot or for any greater number. 2. A deposit of 10 per cent, on the amount offered must accompany each tender, such deposit to be either in bank notes or bank draft in the name of the Secretary for Railways. In the case of unsuccessful tenderers the deposit will bo returned within twentyone days, but in the case of a successful tenderer failing to complete his purchase it will be forfeited to the Government. 3. Cash to bo paid on acceptance of tender. 4. The articles are to be taken delivery of in their present condition, and where they now lie, aud must be removed, and if necessary weighed, at the expense of the purchaser, within thirty days from date of acceptance of tender, failing which they may be again sold at his risk and expense. 6. The highest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.!
