Wind.—Generally between north and west and south-west at places north of Wanganui, and between north-east and north and west at other places. Barometer —Fall generally, but most at places in Middle Island. Sea —Generally moderate on coast. Warnings have been sent to places south of Napier. Between Napier and Port Chalmers the glass rose fast (hiring Wednesday night, but the movement was much less marked in the North and extreme South. A southerly gale and heavy sea were experienced at Kekerangu. The weather is very unsettled, and there are still indications of strong gales. The glass was falling at Lyttelton at 5 p.ra. yesterday., BY TELEGRAPH. . AUCKLAND, Thursday. Arrived : The Southern Cross from Napier. LYTTELTON, Thursday. Arrived : The Firefly from the Bluff, Sailed: The Taranaki for the North at 6 p.m. Passenger—Saloon; For AVellington—Air. Palmerston. —The Ladybird for Akaroa and Port ( halmers at 7.30 p.m.; Prince Alfred and Torea for Kaipara. The schooner Cora, from Oaraaru to Foxton, put in whulboiiml. The s.s. Murray, from Nelson, witn twenty-eight passengers and a tail cargo of wool and fruit, arrived in port at 9 o'clock yesterday morning. She left Nelson at 7.39 p.m. the previous day, and had strong winds across. The Murray will sail for Nelson and West Coast ports to-day. The ketch Falcon sailed for Havelock yesterday afternoon. The steamers Wellington from the North, and Taranaki from the South, will arrive here this morning and sail again in the afternoon, the Wellington for Lyttelton and the Taranaki or the North. The barque Adamant, Captain T. Howling, arrived in Nelson on Wednesday morning from London, after a poisage of 105 days. She brought a large number of passengers, including four Sisters of Mercy, who arrived here yesterday morning by the Murray. The s .‘j. Hinemoa arrived in port from her Northern cruise at 6 o'clock yesterday morning. Her last port of call was Gisborne, and she left there at midnight on Tuesday, and called at Portland Island. he ■•nnaka. for Auckland via the East Coast, sailed at 12.30 p m. yesterday. The brigantine Wollomai arrived in port late on Wednesday night from Melbourne with a full general cargo. Her passage down has occupied sixteen days, she having left Port Phillip on December 24. Carried iß'ht westerly winds to Kent Group, thence southerly and easterly weather till the 6th instant, and from th-re to arrival strong westerly winds. Kapiti was sighted at noun on Wednesday last, and the pil'd taken on hoard at 5 p.m., thus making a smart run from Kapiti of five hours. The Wollomai was entered at the Customs and berthed at the wharf yesterday. 8 c will commence discharging to-day. The p.s. Manawatu arrived in port from Wanganui at 4.30 p.m. yesterday, bringing with her a cargo of wool and hides. She left Wanganui at 12.30 a.ra.. yesterday, and crossed the bar at 1 a.m., having experienced a frightfully heavy westerly sea on it. Encountered strong southerly wind nearly the whole way down. .She will sail for Wanganui to-morrow. -' The s.s. Napier arrived in port at 5 o'clock yester-, day afternoon from Blenheim with a cargo of wool and grain. , • v The Stormbird sailed for Wanganui at 7 o clock yesterday evening. The s.s. Tui. from the South, arrived in port at 2.15 a,rn. yesterday, and called in at various stations, on the coast collecting wool. She went to .Foxton at 8 o'clock last evening. .
