A late English paper states that a Jersey mechanic has invented a new explosive machine, for which he claims destructive powers far surpassing any hitherto known, and which is capable of being employed either on land or sea. Desirous of giving the Turks the benefit of his invention, he has for that purpose been in communication with the Turkish Embassy in London, submitting details of his machine. He has received a very favorable reply, acknowledging the value of his invention, but with an intimation that his offer could not be accepted before the matter had been brought before her Majesty's Government, which he is led to understand will he done.
