At Elierslie House she raced up to Butcher Boy, who was leading ; but at the next, jump her jubilant , partizans were suddenly cast down by both Perfume and the Boy coming a cropper. It now looked as if the race was a certainty for Don Juan, and his name was in everybody's mouth ; but another cry arose “ Tommy’s up,” “ Perfume’s up,” and then the mare appeared over the crest of the hill, about 100 yards behind Don Juan. Will she catch him ? Impossible it seemed. “Perfume! Perfume !” was screamed on all sides as the mare was seen going up hand over fist.'
