The Council is desirous of securing the services of a thoroughly competent Chief Engineer for the city, who shall, ip addition to the ordinary duties of that office, have the control of all the public works of the Corporation—Drainage, Waterworks, Wharf, &c. The Council invites application for the same. The salary is fixed at £BOO per annum. The person appointed will be expected to take office on the Ist day of March next. Further particulars may be obtained on applying at the Town Clerk's office. Applications (sealed, and marked outside “ For City Engineer-ship,” and accompanied with testimonials) must be sent in, addressed to the Mayor and members of the City Council, not later than 5 p.m. of the afternoon of FRIDAY, the Ist day of FEBRUARY NEXT. Notice is hereby given that the period for which dogs are registered will expire on the 31st INSTANT.
