The Agent-Oe eral has telegraphed to the Government advising them of the sailing of the ship Gainsborough with 250 immigrants for Nelson nd Wellington ; the Carnatic and Wanganui with 436 for Canterbur- ; the Piako and Wellington with 462 for Port Chalmers.
Tlies.s, Tavanakileftl/yttelton at 5-16 p.m.on Saturday, and arrived here at 11 a.m. yes eiday. Experienced thick dirty weather up. The Taranaki will leave for Nelson with excursionists this day. p 3: Wallace, with about 40 excursionists on board for the Sound, ‘ook her departure on Sa urday night, shortly after 11 o’clock. She will be back here on Wednesday next. She arrived here from Nelson on Saturday with cargo and passengers. The s.s. Itingarooma left Nelson at Q.Z O a.m. on Saturday, and arrived here at 6 o'clock same evening. She sailed for Melbourne via the South at 12 o'clock yesterday. The brig Neptune, coal laden, from Newcastle, arrived in port on Saturday morning early. The schooner Day Dawn arrived in port from Foxton, timber laden, on Saturday. The brigantine P. W. Tucker came off the Patent Slip on Saturday afternoon. If the "ind continues southerly to day she will make * start for Clarence River.
The schooner Julius Vogel arrived in port from Kaipara on Saturday morning. She left there on Monday last. Had a calm for two days, and from Mount Egmont fresh northerly winds. Sho brought kauri timber as cargo. The ketch Reliance, from Pelorus Sound, arrived in port yesterday morning early with a cargo of timber. V The schooner Minnehaha arrived in port from Kaipara on Saturday after a passage of eight days. She experienced nothing but light tontraiy winds and sal ms throughout.
The -s.s. Rnngatira arrived in port from Napier and Poverty Ka at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. She left Poverty Bay at 4.30 p.m. on Friday, with a load of wool for Napier, and arrived thereat 5 o’clock next morning; left again at 7 p.rn. Experienced strong head winds, beam sea, and thick weather throughout. The- p.s Manawatu arrived In harbor from Wanganui at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon. She left Wanganui at 10.30 p.m. the previous day, and experienced tight variable winds to M»na, thence strong.southeast till arrival.
The s.s. Napiei sailed forßlenhe'm at 12 o’clock on Saturday night with a large number of excursionists.
The schooner Herald for East Coast, Arthur Wakefield for Wanganui and ketch Thames for Pelorus Sound, sailed on Saturday. The s.s. St. Kilda, from the South, arrived in port on Saturday morning at 2 o’clock after a very rough trip from Lyttelton. She sailed for Wanganui in the afternoon.
The schooner Ruby left for White Rock on Saturday; but she had scarcely anchored there when a strong northerly wind with heavy sea came on,, which ©ompellcd her to return to port yesterday morning. The steamers Jane Douglas and Stormblrd, from "Wanganui, arrived in port at 10 a.m. on Saturday, after a passage of 12 hours. The Stormbird and Jane Douglas left same evening; the former for Wanganui, and the latter for Foxton. They are exp.cted back here late to-night or early next morning. The -ebooner Nelson left W ita.-'U, Blind Bay, on the 191,h inat ,in tow of the Lady Barkley, ami experienced light winds across till arrival boro early on Saturday morning.
