THE TERRACE SCHOOL.

The annual distribution of prizes at this school took place on Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Several parents and friends were present. The chair was taken by Mr. J. Bnrne, chairman'of local committee. He (the chairman) heartily congratulated them on the success of the year’s work, and then proceed sd to distribute the prizes, of which a large number had been provided by the committee. Mr. J. Knowles'also addressed the pupils in a short but telling speech. The elder boys presented the master with a musical allium, and the girls with a writing-case. These presents were suitably acknowledged. The following is the prize-list : STANDARD IV. Girls.— Tellira G. Watson, Grace A. Young, Emma Dora David Hutchens, Albert Climio, William D’Arcy, John Davies, Richard Marriott, Harry Blacklock, William Beck. STANDARD 111. Girls.—Elizabeth James, Lois Feist, Euth Archer, Efflo James, Phcebe Watson. Jloy (.—John Mcbean, Charles P’Arcy, William D’Arcy, George McGregor, Percy Knowles, Eobert Blacklook, Herbert Cook, Thomas Munt, Strang Thomson, Ernest Wright, Frederick Levy. STANDARD 11. Boy,—William Baker, Arthur Harvey, Arthur Purr, John Steele, Lewis Cook, George iiell, Charles Young, John Turnbull. aids.— Elizabeth Hutchens, Annie Latham, Kate Chappell, Edith Levy, Mary Nation, Mary Dixon, Ellen Collins. Several prizes for the junior classes, presented by Mr. Maginnity, were also distributed according to merit. Mr. Costall’s prize, consisting of a set of mathematical instruments, to be given to the best buy in the school, was put to the vote of the pupils, and fell to the lot of David Hutchens,

The muster proposed a vote of thanks to the chairman and members of the committee for their untiring exertions on behalf of the school, which was carried by acclamation.
