Turin, 60,0001_ ; Pergola, Florence, 40,0001, the orchestra is also paid by the town; Carlo Felice, Genoa, 10.0001 The ; Fenice at Venice formerly received 180,0001, but that subsidy is now withdrawn. The fact must he, remarked, that if the French Opera receives the largest sum, it is the only one of all those theatres that remains open throughout the year. The Berlin Opera, which occupies the second place with 700,0001, closes for four months, and among those enumerated -are some, of which the season does not last more than sixteen weeks.
