THE HUTT AGRICULTURAL SHOW.

Thu Hutt District Horticultural’s Society’s annual show took place on Saturday in the schoolroom, Lower Hutt. There was a large attendance of visitors, including a number from Wellington. His Excellency the Governor who was to have opened the show, was unavoidably prevented from being present. The display of flowers, fruit, and plants was very creditable, and of vegetables there was a remarkably good show. When such vegetables as were shown yesterday can be grown within a few miles of the city, these necessaries of life ought not to be so scarce and dear as they generally are in Wellington. The exhibits were very tastefully arranged on three large tables, one in the centre of the room, and another at either end. Mr. Handers, Mr. Mackay, Mr. McNab, and Mr. Cooper acted as judges, and discharged the dutie< of that by no means easy office to the satisfaction of everybody. The following is the prize list:— Class I.—pot plants.
