ST. GEORGE'S HALL.

This favorite place of amusement was very largely attended last evening, the management providing an entire change of bill. The performance commenced with an operetta called “ A Puff of Smoke,” which served to introduce the new baritone, or rather, as wo should term him, the “ robust ” tenor, Mr. C. Sidney, and Miss Navaro. The piece was capitally played, and was succeeded by Herr Schott’s performance on the oboe. This gentleman’s fame has preceded him, and what has been said in his praise is amply justified by the performances which last evening we had the pleasure of listening to. The tones of the instrument are singularly sweet, and its capacity was well illustrated under the skilful fingers of Herr Schott, the most rapid and intricate passages being executed with precision. The imitation of the bagpipes was also given with such skill that it only required that the eyes should be shut for the ears to be deceived into the belief that the veritable instrument itself was being tuned to march, reel, and strathspey. Herr Schott was vociferously encored. After this Mr. Sidney sang a song by X’outet, entitled “ G'arissima,” which brought out the rich tones of his voice beautifully, and evoked a hearty encore. The concluding part of the programme was “ Lucia

di Lammermoor,” introducing Miss Hoivarde, Miss Navaro, Miss Nve, Miss Vernon, and Messrs. Cary, Howe, Alexander, and Cooper. The same bill is announced for to-night.
