Cos and Preston.—Arawata, for Bluff. Cleared.— The N.Z.S. Co.’s ship Waimate, for London, with 27 passengers, and caigo valued at £l*o,ooo. The time-hall may housed to-day for rating clironometcis. A chronometer true on Greenwich lime would show 1211. 30min. when the ball drops. Any difference is error, plus or minus, of the chronometer. The schooners Elizabeth Conway and Reward left Lyttelton on Saturday afternoon last. Had variable winds up the coast, with a very heavy northerly sea, till Monday evening, when they met a breeze irom the -S.E.. which took them to th s port, the Conway arriving at 5 a.m. yesterday and the Reward 11 hours afterwards. They both being cargoes of produce. The s.s, Stormbird left Wanganui at 9 p.m. on .Monday, and arrived here at IL3O a.m. yesterday. Nile sailed again for Wanganui at 6 o clock last evening. , . ~ The Union Co.’s s.s. Wikatipu. Captain Cameron, arrived in harbor yesterday at 2.30 p.m. She left '■/dney at 3 p.m. on the 15th instant, and clears I the ii -ads an hour later Met with fresh N'.E. winds and thick weather till midnight on the ISth, when the wind came up from the southward. Passed Cape Farewell tliis morning at 2 a.m., and St-phen Island at 730 a ra. Met with strong .S.E. winds coming through the Strait, arriving as above. The Wakatipu iia i about 150 tons cargo for this port. She will go ■hr,tii to-day. . . Toe schooner Pelican left Oamaru on the 12th ins’ ir.t Had variable winds np the coast, witti heavy bead sea, till Monday, when she got a breeze from the 4, Which took her to port late that night. The schooner Herald, from the East Coast, with a ca—o of wool, arrived here yesterday morning. Toe brigantine Sarah Pile arrived here from Westport yesterday to rece.ve repairs. She left there on Wednesday last, and made a good run to the Heads of :;i hoars, but here meeting with a s'rang north-wester sli>- was driven otf, till the" southerly wind of Monday evening found her and fetched her into port. The Sarah Pile Will go on the Patent Slip. The p.s Ma- awatn and the s.s, Tnl are now underroing thorough overhauls. " The s.s. Taranaki left the Manukau on Saturday !•«:, Taranaki on Sunday, Nelson on Monday, and PhOnn nt 5 a.m yesterday, arriving here about noon. The tug Geelong got away yesterday morning for iiic Manukau. . ~ The Ringarooma, from Melbourne via the South, end Taupo from South, will be here this m ruing. _ The schooner Amaranth, from the Manukau. timI. r laden arrived here yesterday morning.
