ANNUAL DISTRICT MEETING WESLEYAN CHURCH.
The meeting resumed its sitting yesterday morning at 10 o’clock.,, After the singing of a hymn, the Secretary l read a portion of Scripture, and, the Rev. W. G. Thomas led in prayer. ~. ■ The examination papers of the candidate, Mr. Delloe, having been. read over and discussed, it was decided to' recommend him to Conference as a candidate for bur ministry, on the exjuess understanding that he be sent to our theological institution for further training. The Rev. F. O. Dewsbury was cordially recommended to Conference ,'for o' dinritiori and appointment to a circuit, his health hav-. ing become re-established. 1 v The meeting then proceeded to irispect and classify the various 'Crown grants and deeds of counectional properties ■ throughout ” the district, with the view of furnishing a list to theiconneotional registrar of deeds. On the motion of the Rev. H. R. Dewsbury it was resolved, — That this i meeting respectfully urges upon Conference the necessity of providing a more appropriate -hymnbook than the -one at present in use in our Sunday Schools. After a lengthened conversation op the. pastoral oversight of children,, the Rev. A. Reid submitted the following resolution, which was’unanimously carried, —That the Sundayschool teachers he recognised as sustaining the relation of class leaders to their scholar’s,; and that in visiting , the school the .minister shall take the several classes. in turn,’,and deal with the ;scholars separately respecting their religious experience, as in the case of the 1 quarterly visitation of the adult classes. We recommend also that a sermon specially addressed to the young bo preached once a month in all our churches. It was proposed by the Rev. H. R. Dewsbury,—That with reference to the questiqn of publicly recognising candidates for admission" to Church membership' the meeting recommends that in addition to a special pastoral address, to be delivered on the bccasibn of their first communion, they he at the same time publicly’recognised'ab members by the minister extending to them in the name bf the Church the right hand of fellowship.—Carried.' The question relating to the Church status' of communicants having been remitted 'to the annual district meeting, .it Was resolved, bn'the 1 motion of ! 'the Rev. (T. B. Richardson,— Tkkt on occasion of applying to the minister for .admission to the Lord’s table,’as well as kt'other suitable times, communicants be affectionately urged to avail themselves of the idvantkgfek bf our meetings for Christian fellowship, by which they may becoirie entitled to all the privileges of Church membership. ' 1 ’ 1 1 1 The Liveipool minutes were-their read, and the members bf 'tiio meeting expresssd l their deep satisfaction at the prosperity, spiritual and financial, with-i which i the Chruch |,, had been visited during the past year. They hoped that in answer to more earnest prayer, and as the result ot more painstaking effort on the part‘of the ministers arid members of the Church, the coming year will bo characterised by greater success than has attended the past. The district journal was read and signed by the chairman, all the members of the meeting upstanding. Prayer was offered by the Chairman, and after the benediction had been pronounced the meeting closed.
