HUTT AGRICULTURAL SHOW.

The following entries have been made, viz. :—Horse?, 26 ; sheep, 89 ; pigs, 24 ; poultry, 4 ; implements, 25 ; miscellaneous, 33; shearing, 5 entries; and cattle, 27.; Total, 233, as against 224 last year. A correspondent writing from Taita, under date, the 35th inst., says:—“We expect about 30 in the leaping match (which is post; entry). You will observe that the entries for poultry are very poor ; but , we expect we shall have to make post, entries, as wo find they should have been shown in pairs instead of pens of three, as by so doing wo have lost dozens of exhibits, for most persons here Lave only pairs of the best breeds. Another drawback is the two shows being on the same day, and by this we lose a great number of exhibits. It is no fault of ours, as we fixed the date of our show the week after the last show, and there were several locals in the papers about it. It appears that they have formed a new association at Masterton, and fixed the date of their show without enquiring the date of ours, and I

know some of the principal men,up there know the date of . our show, for I, told' them of it myself. We found it out too late, for it was" impossible to alter ours, as wa had judges coming from long distances, who, were, previously'engaged: . The Wairarapa people may possibly alter their date yet ; but in that case it would be too late to , benefit us in our exhibits.” /■ :.'i'!" V;
