PARLIAMENTARY REPORTING.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND T131E3SIR, —I was much disappointed at not finding in this morning’s issue verbatim reports of the speeches delivered yesterday by Messrs. Hodgkinsou and Rees, for surely they were as well deserving a side or two in your paper as that a Hansard report of them should be telegraphed throughout the colony. They only took about 44 hours in delivery, and I venture to say that each after its kind, and according to the natural instincts of the speakers, was' respectively unsurpassable for, illiterate inanity and coarse vituperation. ; I suppose these two gentlemen (save the mark) are amongst those exceptionally great, good, holiest, high-minded,’ intellectual spirits whom Sir George Grey (as Mr. Reca'tolls iia) is gradually but surely drawing around him,’ I have been somewhat amused-to see how the “ Electors of Wellington”—by cunningly devised advertisements sprinkled judiciously over the evening papers, and placarded extensively throughout the town, as though some great show had-, visited our city—have been, urged to read Sir George Grey’s great speech; and I too would venture to urge the same con* stituency to read those equally great speeches (in their way) of Dr. Hodgldnson and Mr. Rees, and then surely will they thank Godeven for their Travers.—Yours, Junius,
