The barque Schiehallion discharged her powder at the powder ground yesterday morning, and was afterwards hauled up to the wharf by the Moa, where she was berthed at 8 a.in. She commenced to discharge her general cargo during the day. and 700 cases were turned out in excellent condition.
The ketches Good Templar and Clematis and schooner Rose of Eden mailed for Pelorus Sound yesterday. The s.b. Napier left Blenheim at 4 p.m. on Wednes* day, crossed the bar at 6 p.ra., and arrived in port at 1 a.m. yesterday. She left again for Blenheim at 1 o’clock this morning.
The brigantine Hannah Broomfield went up or Messrs. Coffey and Dixon’s slip yesterday. All her topmasts and spars have been taken down, so as to lighten her as much as possible on the slip. The Silas Fish will commence discharging this morning. Messrs. McMeckan, Blackwood, and Co.'s s.s. Albion arrived in port last evening at half-past c o’clock, from Melbourne, via the West Coast. She left Melbourne at 4 p.m. on the 2nd inst., passed the Sisters the following day at 1 p.m., and arrived off Hokitika at 0 p.m. on the 7th; from there went to Greymouth, and left the West Coast on the 9th, reaching Nelson at 10 a.m. on the 10th ; left there at 10.15 a.m. yesterday, and made a good run to this port of 8\ hours. We thank Mr. Jago (purser) for prompt delivery of files and also report. The Albion will leave this afternoon for Melbourne and Hobarton, via the South.
Thes.s. Tui arrived in port from Foxton at halfpast 8 o'clock last night. She left there at half-past 10 o'clock that morning, and crossed the bar an hour afterwards. Had fine weather throughout. Saw two brigs in the Strait. The Tui will sail for Kaikoura and Lyttelton to-morrow. The ss. Rangatira, Captain Evans, left Poverty Bay on Tuesday at 12.45 p.m,, having been detained there twenty-four hours owing to a S.W. gale, and arrived at Napier the s-irae evening after a nine hours' run; crossed the bar at C next morning, discharged cargo, and left for Wellington at 7 p.m. same day. Experienced heavy beam sea and head winds during the trip, arriving here at 9 o’clock last night. She brings 18 tons cargo, 15 tons of which are maize. She will leave again for Napier and Poverty Bay on Saturday,
