PARLIAMENT.
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. Wednesday, October 10. The Hon. the Speaker took the chair at halfpast two o’clock. petition. The Hon. Captain FRASER brought up n petition from residents of Napier, praying that the To Ante estate should not be re-leased to the Rev. Mr. Williams. PAPERS AND RETURNS. Various papers and returns were laid upon the table by the Hou. l)r. Pollen. REPORTS. The Hon. Colonel BRETT brought up a report of the Joint House Committee, which was read; as was also the report of the select committee on the Wakatipu runs, brought up by the Hon. Mr. BUCKLEY. BILLS. The Auckland College and Grammar School Act, 1877, was read a first time, and the Imprest Supply Act, 1877, No. 4, was passed through all its stages. The Hon. Hr. PEACOCK, who was introduced by the Hons. Colonel Brett and Mr. Peters, having taken the oath of allegiance, resumed his seat in the Council. At 3.15 p.m. the Council adjourned till the usual hour on Tuesday afternoon.
