KARORI-MAKARA HIGHWAY BOARD.
Saturday, Octobur 6. Present—Messrs. Graham (chairman), Cook, Bowler, Page, and Wright.—Minutes and correspondence outwards were read. —Letter from ,T. C. Crawford to the effect that he contemplated certain roads, and would look for assistance from the Board, acknowledged.—The secretary was instructed to iucpiire why the collector was not present at the office of the Board on the day advertised. —Complaints having been made of the nuisance caused by the slaughtering premises of Mr. D. Toohill, on the Ohiro-road, both from the stench of the premises and the drainage polluting the water used by neighbors, the Clerk was instructed to inform Mr. Toohill that unless steps were at once taken for removing the said nuisance summary proceedings under the Public Health Act, 1876, would be taken.— Kesolved, that in all cases where there is any urgent necessity for repairs on any road, the warden of the district be empowered to have such repairs executed at mice, he reporting to the Board at its first meeting, llesolved also, that the collector be instructed to send in to the clerk of the Board a statement of all rates received during the month at least three days before each meeting of the Board.—The following accounts were ordered to be paid:— Mr. McLeary, £9; Mclntyre and Co., £1; Mr. George Norbury, £3 12a.; and Mr. 11. Duignan, £l4 Os. 7d,
