Arrived; Zealandia, with the English and American mails. The mail agent reports:—Arrived at Honolulu from Auckland on August 17: left same afternoon, and arrived at San Francisco on the morning of the 22nd. The mails were forwarded to the east by train on the following morning. The longest run in one day was 304 miles, and the shortest 200. Left San Francisco for Auckland on September 12: arrived at Honolulu on September 20, and Auckland at 6.45 tilis morning. Passengers for New Zealand— Mrs. Buckley, Eev. C. Fisher, Messrs. The s.s, Murray left Nelson at 4.40 p.m. on Friday last; stopped at the French Pass to land passengers, and arrived her© at 5 a.to. yesterday. The Murray will leave for Picton, Nelson, and West Coast ports to-morrow. The s.s. Eangatira sailed for Napier at 0.15 p.m. on Saturday. A „ ■ ... The p.s. Luna arrived m port from Grey mouth at 10 o’clock on Saturday night, bringing 195 tons coal, 7 tons fireclay, and 27 tons coke. She left Greymouth at S a.m. on Friday last. The Luna will sail for Westport and Greymouth to-morrow. The schooner Spec and ketch Agnes, bound for Pelorus Sound, were at anchor at the Heads yesterday. The Union Company’s steamship Wanaka, from the South, arrived in port yesterday afternoon at 3 o clock. She left Port Chalmers on the sth inat, and reached Lyttelton at 9 a.m. on the 6th; sailed again at 7 p.m. >arae day, and arrived here as above-stated. Experienced very strong head winds from Cape Carnpbell. The Wanaka will sail for Auckland via East Coast to-moirow. „ . ... . . The three-masted schooner Garibaldi now In port is to be converted into a steamer once more. Mr. E. W. Mills has the contract for carrying out the work, and will take her in hand as soon as her cargo from Lyttelton has been discharged. She will he fitted with the 3.8, Egmont’s boiler and engines, and is intended for the West Coast trade. The s.s. Napier left far Blenheim on Saturday morning, and the Kiwi got away few the East Coast same night. , „ ~ The s.s. St. Kilda arrived in port from Dunedin, Oamani, Timaru, and Lyttelton at 11.30 last night. She sailed from Lyttelton at 5 o’clock the previous evening, and experienced strong head winds np. As there was no berth vacant at the wharf when, she arrived last night, she had to anchor off the wharf. The s.s. Tui arrived in port from the South yesterday morning at 9 o’clock. She left Lyttelton at 7 p m on the 6th, and twelve hours afterwards reached Kaikoura. Left there at 11.15 a.m. same day, and being specially chartered to bring three passengers to Blenheim to see a sick relative, headed for that place; arrived off the bar at 11 o’clock that night, and anchored till daylight, when the passengers were landed. At 4 a.m. she started for this port, and arrived here as above. Experienced head .wind throughout. The Tni will sail for I'oxton to-day. The s.s. Stormbfrd arrived In port from Wanganui at 10 a.m. yesterday. , , The s.s. Jane Douglas came into port from Foxton and Wanganui at 7 o’clock last night. She le:t Wanganui at 3.30 p.m. on Saturday last, reached Foxton at 8 a.m. next day; and working the bar with the one tide, crossed outwards at 10.10 a.m., arriving as above stated. Experienced very strong north-west winds down. The Jane Douglas will sail again for Foxton to-day.
