Notice is hereby given, that in accordance with the Local Boards Act, 1873, an election will be held for the return of five qualified persons to serve as Commissioners for the Kaiwarra Local Board District, and that the nomination of candidates will take place at the Schoolhouse, Kaiwarra, at noon on SATURDAY, the 6th OCTOBER, 1877. And that the Poll, if necessary, will be taken on MONDAY, the Bth OCTOBER, 1877, commencing at 9 a.m., and closing at 4 p.m. The following is the Polling place :—Schoolhouse, Kaiwarra. NOTICE is hereby given, that the Council did, by resolution adopted at a Special Meeting held on the 27th day of September last, resolve that a certain By-law to provide for the preservation of Asphalt and Concrete Water Channels within the city should be made; and notice is hereby further given, that it is intended to confirm such resolution at a meeting of the Council, to be held on the 25th day of OCTOBER next, and that a copy of the Bylaw as adopted may be inspected during ordinary office hours at the office of the Town Clerk. The double-cylinder machine, for steam or water power, will produce three tons per week of most perfect fibre, equal to the hand-scraped fibre formerly supplied by the natives.
