Manager: The rapid growth and increasing prosperity of the city of Wellington and its Country Districts during the past few years warrant the opinion that a Loan and Building Society, formed under the Building Societies Act, 1876, and affording wider scope for the employment of capital than is offered by existing societies, is now needed and will meet with a large measure of success. The present society is accordingly formed, and with the following special objects, viz.: — To provide a sate and profitable investment for capitalists; to receive money on deposit; to grant loans on freehold and approved leasehold property; to assist persons in the erection of dwellings, and generally to afford every legitimate facility to both borrower and investor. It is intended that the operations of the society shall embrace the whole of the Wellington Provincial District; and with this object the necessary agencies will be established. Availing themselves of the powers conferred by the Act of 1876, the promoters propose that the shares shall be of two classes ;
First, Proprietary ’ Shares, the holders of which, forming the governing body of the society, will be entitled to their yearly dividend proportioned to the profits realised by the society, in like manner as the shareholders in an ordinary Joint Stock Company. Ten thousand such shares, of the value of £lO each, shall form the capital of the society; but it is not intended at present to call up more than £5 per share, by payments as follows : —ss. on application; ss. on allotment; and monthly payments thereafter of 2s. 6d. per share. , Second,. Investment Shares. —These shares will be issued from time to time, and will be similar in kind to the investment shares in existing building societies. They will entitle the holder to an amount of £SO or £25 on the completion of payments made in accordance with tables to.be from time to time published by the society. The share list will close on Wednesday, 31st October, 1877. I For further information and also for forms of application, apply to J. H.
