Wednesday. “Arrived: The New Zealand Shipping Co.’s Waimea, with 1600 tons cargo and 15 passengers from London. Half the cargo :s for the Bluff. She left London on June 26; cleared the land on the 31st: crossed the Equator on July 30: had light S.E. trades and variable winds to Tristan d’Acunha. Picked np the steady westerly winds on August 18, and met a severe S.S.E. gale, which lasted for two «*jays. Rounded the Cape of Good Hope on August 28. Had steady westerlies across the Southern Ocean, and passed the Snares yesterday. She made the passage in 85 days from land to land. The schooner Friendship has arrived at the Heads from Macquarrie Island. Captain Wilson reports the total wreck of the schooner Bencleugh at the Macquarrie on sth August. She was driven on shore iii a terrific S.E. gale. A Maori named Wallay died on the 24th August, from the effects of a fractured thigh, and another seamen named Pentey is still suffering from a fracture of the leg. All the stores were saved. The vessel was owned by A. and J. Thomson, merchants. Port Chalmers. She is insured iu the Victoria Office for £BOO. NEW PLYMOUTH, Wednesday. TheHaurakl, steamer, when leaving Waitara River yesterdav, got on the middle bar at the entrance, and had to remain there till this morning’s tide, when she floated off. She is now alongside the wharf. LYTTELTON, Wednesday. Arrived: The p.s Dispatch, from Greymouth; Ringarooma, from the South. A steerage passenger named Thos. Pearson, from Melbourne for Christchurch, died on board last night from phthisis. The Ringarooma sails North to-morrow. Sailed : The s.s. Hawea, for the North; at 3.30 p.m, Passengers for Wellington-Mrs. Hart, Miss Herbert, Hon. T. H. Wigley, Messrs. Button. M.H.K., and Mitford; Luna, s.s., for Wellington and West Coast, AUCKLAND, Wednesday. The mail steamer Australia sailed for San Francisco : with 16 saloon and 1 steerage passenger from Sydney, and one saloon and three steerage passengers from New Zealand. The Rotorua sailed for Sydney at 1 p.mGREYMOUTH, Wednesday. Sailed : Mary Campbell, for Melbourne. The tug Lioness last night, while towing the ketch Argus from Kaiapoi, took the ground, and hung for about an hour, ultimately getting off. The ketch was stranded on the North Beach. The p-s. Luna, from Lyttelton, will arrive in port to-day. She is expected to sail in the evening for West Coast ports. As the Hawea left Lyttelton for this port at 3.30 p.m. yesterday, she will arrive about 6 o’clock this morning. It is anticipated she will be despatched for Auckland, via the East Coast, early this afternoon. The ketch Unity arrived from Lyttelton at 5.30 p.m. yesterday. She left there on Sunday last, and had light winds and calms up. She brings a full cargo of colonial produce. The topsail schooner Kaiuraa came over from Pelorus Sound yesterday afternoon timber laden. The p.s. Manawatu reached the port from Wanganui at 11 a.m. yesterday. She left there the previous evening at 10.15., crossed the bar at 11 45, and experienced fine calm weather with smooth sea throughout. She will sail again for Wanganui tomorrow evening. The Ringarooma was unable to get away from Lyttelton yesterday afternoon. She is expected to leave to-day, and arrive here to-morrow morning. She will sail same day at midnight for Nelson; . The s.s. Jane Douglas, from Foxton andßangitikei, is expected to make this port to-day. The s.s. Napier has made a trip from Blenheim to Nelson. She was expected to leave the latter port last evening, and consequently may be expected to arrive here in the course of the day. The ketch Clematis, Captain Bonner, laden with produce from Lyttelton, arrived in port yesterday afternoon at 4 o’clock. She passed out through Lyttelton Heads on Sunday last, in company with nine other vessels, with a light fair breeze, which unfortunately the same afternoon died away to a calm. Thence till 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon the ketch has had to contend with a series of light airs and calms, when she got a breeze from the S.E , which carried her into port, arriving as above mentioned. She came alongside Plimmer’s Wharf last evening, and will commence unloading this morning. The schooner Richard and Mary took advantage of a light breeze yesterday morning and left the harbor for Nelson. The s.s. Stormbird got away for Wanganui at 6 o’clock’ yesterday afternoon. The schooner Hannah Barratt hauled alongside the ship Orari yesterday, where she will load with railway material for Picton.
