BLUFF, Monday, The Ringarooma left Melbourne at 4.30 p.m. on the 19th; cleared the Heads at 7.30 p.m. same day; passed Swan Island on the 20th and th© Solanders on the 24th; arrived at the Bluff this morning. Experienced light E. winds and a dense fog the first two days, thence S.E. winds and fine weather. She brings 33 saloon and 39 steerage passengers and COO tons of cargo for all ports. Sails at 4 p.m. for Dunedin Passengers—For Wellington: Mrs. Kitchen ana family (6), Messrs. Sharp and McDonald; 6 steerage, and 164 tons cargo. For Nelson: 1 steerage, and 100 ■tons cargo. POUT CHALMERS, Monday. Arrived : Barque Silas Fish, 117 days from New York. She has 800 tons of cargo for Wellington. Sailed : Hawea, for the North. Passengers—For Wellington; Messrs. Campbell, Martin, and Cooper. OAMARU, Monday. Sailed ; Dunedin, schooner, for Auckland, with breadstuffs. AUCKLAND, Monday. The barque Elsinore arrived yesterday from Wellington. The captain having no chart of the harbor was putting into Waxwera in some danger, when a settler put off in a boat.and piloted him into port. The schooner Ruby came up .from Kaikoura yesterday morning. She brought a cargo of produce. The s.s. Rangatira sailed last evening at 6 o'clock for Napier with a large general cargo. She also took a fair complement of passengers, but none were put on her clearance manifest. The schooner Clan Alprne got away for Pelorus Sound yesterday morning. The Union Co's s.s. Taupo reached port at 10 a.m. yesterday from Auckland via the East Coast. She left Auckland on the 20th inst., Tauranga on the 21st, Gisborne on the 22nd, and Napier at noon on the 23rd, and arrived in port as above-mentioned. The Taupo got away for the South at half-past 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. The s.s. Wakatipu, from Sydney, is due here tomorrow. The p.s. Luna, from the West Coast ports, laden with coal, coke, &c., got into port yesterday morning. She left Greymouth on Friday last at 9 a.m, and got off Westport at 4 pan., too early for the tide. # Waited outside for over two hours, and then steamed over the bar, and got alongside the wharf at 7.30 p.m. At 11 o'clock next morning left for this port, and arrived as above stated. Experienced fine weather to Cape Farewell, thence strong S.E. wind, with high head sea and thick weather, till arrival. The Luna left for Lyttelton at 7 o'clock last evening. The steamers Tui for Foxton and Jane Douglas for Foxton and Rangltikei sailed yesterday evening at Q o'clock. ARRIVAL OF THE HERBERT BLACK. (From the Otago Guardian, Sept. 21. The barque reported standing in from the northward on Tuesday, and which was afterwards passed off Moeraki on the afternoon of the following day by the steamer Rotorua, made her appearance off the Heads yesterday morning showing American colors, and sailed up to the anchorage at 115 p.m. She proved to be the Herbert Black, from New York, with a cargo of "Yankee notions" for this port and Wellington. She brings 812 tons of measurement cargo, 662 tons being for Dunedin, and the remaining 250 tons for Wellington. Captain Treat reports leaving New York in company with the barque Silas Fish for tins port on the 29th May, and states that he experienced light baffling winds right across the North Atlantic, had very light north-east trades, and picked up the south-east trades in latitude 20 N.; crossed , the Equator in longitude 26 W. on July 15, 47 days out; had fresh north-east trade*, and lost them in latitude 22 S. on July 24; and thence fell in with the steady westerlies. Had fresh breezes for the next eight or ten days, and crossed the meridian of Greenwich on August 4; thence the winds fell light and held so till August the Bth, in longitude 10 east, when the breeze freshened again, and held right across the Heathen.' Ocean. She ran down her easting in the 44th parallel of south latitude, and encountered a very heavy south-west gale in longitude 63 east, which lasted for four days, the ship running through it under low canvas. Crossed the meridian of Cape Leuwin on September 4, and passed the Island ot Tasmania on the 10th, encountered a heavy gale from north-west to south on the 13th inst., and passed the Snares without sighting them on the 15th. Thence she encountered % heavy south-south-west gale, with snow and hail squalls, and made her first landfall off the south end of Stewart Island on the 16th. After rounding the island the gale increased to a perfect hurricane, and the vessel was hove-to, and was kept by the wind for the ensuing forty-eight hours, being driven pastTaiaroa Heads forty miles to the northward. The gale moderated on the morning of the 19th, and she worked back to the port, arriving as above.
