The pilgrims who went to Rome to attend the Papal Jubilee have been classified as follows;—French, 6000 ; Spaniards, 4000; Belgians, 1000; Germans, 800; Austrians, 1000; Americans from the United States, 600 ; Canadians, 100; Brazilians, 250; Portuguese, 200; Irish and English, 300; altogether over 17,000. The latest intelligence is, that buyers for cash when they visit Wellington, or send their orders to J. McDowell and Co.’s, will find the following advantages under their now system of discount for cash|payments: —A large and well-assorted stock, which is being constantly added to, with the new fashions as they come out. Prices of the same moderate character for which 1 their establishment has become so noted. And tins season J. McDowell and Co. have commenced by offering all their new goods to cash purchasers of £2 or upwards at a discount of 5 per cent.; and on all accounts paid monthly, a discount of 2§ percent.; quarterly accounts, • without discount or abatement.
