In reference to the arrangements for University classes, Mr. Wilson explained that at the request of various persons, and particularly of the masters of Hoard schools, he had started classes in Latin twice a week, and in mathematics once a week. The classes had been carried on by him with the assistance of Mr. Hardy. The fees derived from this source amounted to £l3, which he held at the disposal of the Board. _ The arrangement had hitherto been only of a temporary character, but he suggested that some arrangement should be made for placing them on a more permanent basis, as this was a good and useful work, and entailed no expense on the Board. The University required that the scholars should attend the whole course.
The Rev. Mr. Paterson said he should like to see a broad distinction between the Grammar School and the higher school. He approved of these classes, and considered it desirable that they should be continued. Mr. Wilson suggested that the Board might advertise th se classes and receive the fees. The Rev, Mr. Paterson said he would approve of the suggestion if it did not involve extra expenses. On the motion of Brandon, it was resolved that the past proceedings in the matter be approved, that the fees be handed over to Mr. Wilson and Mr. Hardy, and that a committee consisting of the Rev.
