LATEST WAR NEWS. THE FIGHTING AT PLEVNA. (REUTER'S SPECIAL TO PRESS AGENCY.) [The following telegram was received at the New Zealand Times office at a quarter past three o'clock this morning]:— Bombay—(Undated.) The Czar, the Archduke Nicholas, and Prince Charles of Roumania with the Russiau-Rou-manian army are attacking Plevna. The Russian head-quarters are at Kadenitze between Bulgareni and Porodin. There is no news from the direction in which Mehemet Pasha and Sulieman Pasha are operating. LATEST AUSTRALIAN, Sydney, Wednesday. The drought is breaking up. There have been heavy rains in the South and West Districts. Nearly 200 American emigrants arrived to-day. Melbourne, Wednesday. Arrived—Ringarooma, fx-om Bluff. Sydney, Sept. 12, midnight. -The s.s. City of New York has arrived. There has been further x-aiu in the South and North-west, doing great good. Two police constables were shot by a barman at Bourke, and a sub-inspector was wounded. The assassin di'owned himself. Sailed—The Arawata.
