The hon. member for Auckland City Bast, Mr. Rees, took occasion to find fault with the outline we gave recently of the McManus case. We mentioned the case, it may be said, in order to point out the glaring act of injustice which had been perpetrated by three justices of the peace. In doing this Mr. Rees’ connection with the case had to be incidentally referred to. As Mr. Rees seemed to think that this incidental reference was not calculated to raise him in the estimation of his fellows, we print in the supplement published with this day’s issue the whole of the evidence taken before the committee on the,Me Manns case, and trust that its attentive perusal will impress the reader with a proper estimate of Mr. Bees —an estimate satisfactory even to that gentleman himself.
