Sib, —1 see that Mr. K. Wilson is willing to answer any question regarding the Cambridge Bocal Examinations. I am reminded of a pertinent question which you yourself asked several months ago, but which I do not remember to have seen answered. The question was this: How is it that, with a most expensive University at our own door, holding annual ■ examinations, Mr. Wilson finds it necessary or desirable to go to Cambridge for a proper test, or rather to bring Cambridge here ? I should like to hear Mr. Wilson’s explanation of this ; also what is the difference In detail between the “ local” examination and that or those of the New Zealand University ? Perhaps Mr. Wilson would also explain in this connection bow it comes that the pupils of his “College” have such marked success at this examination, and such comparatively indifferent success at the competitions ■ of our University? It would also be interesting to know what his own connection precisely is with the papers of this local examination: do they now or did they on any previous occasion remain in or pass through his hands ? I ask this question not at all from any suspicion of my own; but I have certainly heard people talking—no doubt loosely—on this subject.—l am, &0., Inquieek. Wellington, September 6.
