Albion Company’s ship Timaru, 85 days from Glasgow, with 59 passengers and 1600 tons cargo. She ■ experienced a series of terrific-gales from, the W.S. W. to S.S.E., attended with ‘hall, snow, and squalls. While running down-hfir "easting she spoke the ship Bengal on July 7th, ifllat. 7T6 N., long. 24*20, bound from Liverpool to Calcutta, 26 days out; and the ship. Bramblettyrs, from Amsterdam to the Sir Edward Pellew Islands, 28 days out. The as. Hawea, from the South, will he here this morning. She.wiU go North same day.at midnight. The schooner Acadia. Captain McDonald, from the Manukau, with a full cargo of kauri timber, arrived in port yesterday afternoon shortly before 3 o’clock. She left the Manukau on the 28th ultimo, and experienced a series of strong W. and S.W. gales till round- • ing CapeEgmont; thence met with a moderate northerly breeze, which carried her into port. Reports passing in the Strait yesterday the brig Omaha, bound from Timaru to Newcastle; she was six days out. The barque Primera hauled away from the wharf yesterday forenoon, and sailed down to the outer anchorage. She is expected to clear out at the Customs to-day. The s.s, Kennedy arrived in port from Nelson at 7 a.m. yesterday, having left there at 6 o’clock the previous evening. Her departure for Nelson and the West Coast, has been postponed till to-day. The schooners Owake for Pelorus Sound, and Elizabeth Curie for Picton, got away yesterday. The ship Taranaki is now on the Patent Slip being painted, and it is expected will be launched on Saturday next.' Prior to her being taken on the slip a slight accident occurred. The- ship was moored ready * to be laid on the slip on Saturday last, when a heavy S.E. gale came on, and all the moorings, except of course the anchors, were carried away. She therefore slewed down on to the wharf, damaging it considerably. pne of the ship’s plates by the collision was bulged in and cracked, and she is now having a piece of plate riveted over the damaged part on the inside. The reparing, however, is only of a temporary character, as when she gets Home a new plate will be fitted Into her The Taranaki is while on the slip being ballasted from the neighboring hills, and the ballast is being supplied to her at sixpence a ton less than it can be delivered at the Queen s wharf. The steamer Jane Douglas arrived in port from Foxton at 5 p.m. yesterday. She left there at 7p.m. the previous day, and experienced fine weather down. The Jane Douglas will sail for Foxton and Rangitikei to-day.
