Public Works Office, Taranaki, December 9, 1875. —To John Blackett, Esq.—Dear Sir, — Mr. Louiason lately completed a contract with this department for painting nineteen bridges, between New Plymouth and Palea district, using his Hematite Paint. The work was carried out satisfactorily, and so far as T am able to form an opinion of a new material (that can only be tested by time), consider it superior to any other paiut that has been used for bridge purposes, and I intend for the future to recommend its use for bridge work in pre-, ference to other known material. It has, further, the great recommendation of cheapness as compared with the ordinary paint.— Octavius Carrington, Engineer-in-Chnrge, West Coast. Engineer’s Office, Nelson, January 24, 1874. —Sir, —l have much pleasure in expressing my high appreciation of your Hematite Paint, which has been used by the Provincial Government for painting bridges, ironwork, &c. I consider it far superior to any imported Paint I have ever had used for such purposes, and strongly recommend -it, feeling sure that its superior qualities over other Paints will be generally admitted.— W. Lightfoot, Superintendent Public Works. Nelson, February 28, 1874.—Sir, —I have used your Hematite Paiut for the last two years, and have much pleasure in bearing testimony to its merits. It is admirably adapted for marine purposes, and I consider it superior to any imported Paint I have seen used during an experience of nearly thirty years. — James S. Cnoss, Harbor-Master. Nelson, December 31, 1873.—Sir,_ —I have tried your Hematite Paint, and find it applicable for either Wood or Iron, but with the latter it appears to form an especial affinity. After roughly scraping off the old rusty scales and applying this Oxide, it at once soaks into the Iron, and prevents any further corrosion. _Chas. F. Watt».
