The trades proved good, and were lost in latitude 2N. Thence she ran right into the S.E. trades, and crossed the Equator on the 7th May'in longitude 27 AV. The S.E, trades were brisk, and carried her to latitude 23 S., giving out on the 22nd May, when the wind hauled round to the southward and westward. She crossed the meridian of Greenwich on the Ist of June, and rounded the Cape of Good Hope four days later, in latitude 38 S. Thence she had steady westerlies from W.S.
