AN EXPLANATION.
, TO THE EDITOR OP THE HEW ZEALAND TIMES. 'i Sib,—l; am surprised to find a statement industriously circulated in town to tbe effect that I appeared the other day amongst the members of the Wellington Bar assembled to address their Honors the Judges and express their feelings i respecting my: partner, Mr. Barton’s,, petition te Parliament, and that I am therefore opposed, to my partner’s proceedings in this,,matter, arid, sympathise with tbe .Judges, . My presence in the Court on that fmdrning was, solely due te the fact that I am solicitor .in the, case, of Wi Parata against the t ßishop of Wellington, in which my partner is counsel ; and he and I were both there upon our client’s business, and for no other purpose. I consider it,an.unfortunate circumstance that the address was presented on the very day and 'time on..which'. I -and my partner were obliged professionally ;tq attend the Court.—l am,.&c.,, 1 ,j. . j ;HeNRT.-S. ..FITZHERBERT. .
