The division on the question of the incidence of taxation, in the House of Representatives last night, may want explanation. The Government voted for Sir George Grey’s amendment, and Sir George voted against it, because otherwise Major Atkinson’s amendment could not have been put; As it is; the Government have shown a clear and distinct majority, and the more the Opposition pursue their present obstructive .tactics; the larger that majority will grow.
